How to Make 

Sicilian Sausage Bread (Bignolati)

Prepare a basic pizza dough and let rise for 2 hours.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling: In a large skillet on medium heat, sauté thinly sliced onions until golden, about 10 minutes.  Transfer to a bowl and let cool. In the same skillet, brown mild Italian sausage without the casing until no longer pink.  Transfer to a bowl and let cool.

To assemble: Roll out the dough into a large rectangular shape.

Evenly disperse the onions and sausage over the dough.

Roll the dough, jelly roll style, beginning with the long end closest to you.

 Transfer the rolled dough on a parchment covered baking sheet. Connect both ends to form a circle. Let rest, covered, for 1 hour.

Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.

Cut into wedges and enjoy!
