Roasting peaches brings out their natural sweetness and are delicious paired with ice cream, yogurt, sweetened ricotta or mascarpone cream. Maple Roasted Peaches are a perfect and easy way to end a summer’s evening meal!I experienced a nostalgic moment when I bit into this simple peach dessert. I was transported back to my youth when fruit canned in a sweet syrupy liquid was not uncommon in our lunch boxes. Remember those? The peaches were my favorite: soft, juicy and sweet. When I told my kids we used to buy canned fruit they were in shock. My how things have changed!
Of course this is not to suggest that these roasted peaches taste like syrupy canned fruit! They are way tastier not to mention a much healthier choice. Made with only three natural ingredients: peaches, maple syrup and cinnamon, and they take only 5 minutes to assemble.
I wait all year to enjoy these gorgeous peaches from the Niagara region of Ontario. During the rest of the year I avoid all other imported peaches that are always dry and have an awful mealy texture. These peaches are always incredibly juicy. The kind of juiciness that runs down your fingers and hands when you bite into them!Of course these peaches are delicious as is however if you want to enhance their natural sweetness and transfer this beautiful fruit into an effortless amazing dessert, this is the healthy baked peaches recipe for you!
Step by Step Instructions
Cut ripe peaches in half, remove the pit and place the peach halves cut side up on a buttered baking dish.
In a small bowl whisk together the maple syrup and cinnamon. Drizzle the mixture over the peach halves.
Maple syrup is without a doubt the sweetener of choice when you live in Quebec however this recipe would work well with honey if you prefer.Bake in a 400 degrees F preheated oven for 30 minutes until soft. Turn on the broiler during the last 2 minutes of baking for a nice golden color. Let cool slightly before serving.
At this point, if you wish, you can easily peel off the skin before serving.

Hi Josie, so glad to hear you enjoyed them! This recipe is practically not a recipe, it’s so easy. Thanks for sharing!

I actually do remember those canned peaches. I had a weakness for them, topped with cream. But given the choice, I’d take yours in the heart beat!
Nadia
Oh I can just imagine how they must have tasted with cream! It’s good to see how our food choices have evolved throughout the years and, like you, I’ll choose my own roasted peaches any day!
Marci
Nadia, I’m with you when it comes to peaches. I just bought my first basket of local peaches and I never buy them out of season.
I read your note about the Adult version of this recipe and went right to my liquor cabinet, hoping to find some rum which would’ve been perfect with real maple syrup! Sadly, no rum. BUT I did have Limoncello! So I used honey like you suggested as an alternative since I thought it would be good with lemon, and the peaches are roasting in the oven right now!!! They smell wonderful.
Thanks for the inspiration!!
I’ll have to get some rum……
Nadia
Hi Marci, indeed I’m going to enjoy these peaches almost every day until they’re out of season! As for the liquor, I like your idea of using Limoncello, sounds wonderful! Hope you enjoyed them and thanks for your feedback!
